WHADAYA GONNA DO?

We are perplexed. We received emails from some subscribers questioning our support of JOHNSON FAMILY VACATION. We can't figure it out. Some of you complain about negative stereotypes, language and violence brought to the screen in many black films, so we chose to endorse JFV because it had none of those elements except a rappin' son. And ya' still complaining.

WHADAYA GONNA DO?

We don't know. What we do know is that The Squad looks to endorse and promote films that we think deserve the support because of the content and sometimes we endorse a film because of the production team. Moreover, we assume that many of you will see these films anyway, so we like to tell ya' why we think you should. We liked JFV because it was an escape from some of the product we have seen recently and we knew that children could see it and the content presented very little problematic scenes or prose.

The bottom line is that Hollywood, Blackwood and all the great film pro's out there have absolutely NO CLUE as to what America will like at the theaters. When Paramount released FORREST GUMP, they thought the film was a stinker from early showings etc, BUT THEN, Forrest caught fire and all of America was searching for a box of chocolates or saying, "run Forrest, run --- go get your Jennie."

WHADAYA GONNA DO?

We are all gonna continue to go to the movies, watch them on cable, rent the DVD's or buy em from Melvin and nem' on 125th street. (Ah,...don't do that - it's illegal.) We are all film people, so try and look a little deeper the next time you think a film is bad. Our belief is that most films that make it from idea - to script - to screen deserve some type of promo. Of course, some should never make it to the screen. We stand behind JOHNSON FAMILY VACATION - it's good family fun.

HE'S GONNA BE AT CODA with DJ FINK, ABSOLUT & THE SQUAD

ABSOLUT SOULFUL SUNDAY Presents Miami Based Recording Artist

BIG BROOKLYN RED

Brooklyn is a bad-mofo when he grabs the mic. If you have watched APOLLO in the last few weeks, we are sure that you saw Brooklyn get down with George Benson's MASQUERADE. The competition was tight, but Brooklyn pulled it out because his voice has the ability to grab you, shake you and make you say, "d*mn, that boy can sing." The Squad has seen Brooklyn do this and you should too. Don't miss this event, it's gonna be hot.

So NYC, we want you in the house on Wednesday, May 5 at CODA.

ABOUT THE FILM
Ben Stiller and Jack Black star as Tim and Nick, best friends, neighbors and co-workers, whose equal footing is suddenly tripped up when one of Nick's harebrained get-rich-quick schemes actually succeeds: Vapoorizer, a spray that literally makes dog poop, or any other kind for that matter, evaporate into thin
air -- to where exactly is anyone's guess. Tim, who had scoffed at Nick's idea and passed on an opportunity to get in on the deal, can only watch as Nick's fortune -- and Tim's own envy -- grow to equally outrageous proportions. When the flames of jealousy are fanned by an oddball drifter (Walken) who
imposes himself into the situation, Tim's life careens wildly out of control ... taking Nick's with it.

FILM IS RATED PG-13 by the MPAA
